Devin Munsey

Reunification story

My name is Marlee Burns, and my husband, Devin Munsey, is currently residing at the Faithful Servant’s House in Kelso, Washington.

A while back, shortly after we were married in July, we relapsed. By November, our lives were in shambles.  Devin had stopped coming home, wasn’t working, and had picked up new charges. He was on his way to rehab, and at that point, our family felt non-existent. It was a complete train wreck.

After completing 30 days of inpatient treatment, Devin moved into the Faithful Servant’s House. Looking back, I truly believe that this place is the reason our family is still together today. We had both reached our breaking point - too much fighting, too much trauma, and we were about to call it quits.

Then, one day, everything changed. Not long after moving into the house, Devin started going to church with the other men there and focusing on his recovery. He called me and said, “I was wrong. I love you and our daughter, and I want to work this out.”

From that moment forward, we have each been working on our own recovery while also coming together - attending church on Sundays and going to Celebrate Recovery as often as possible. Our daughter loves visiting him at the house, and for the first time in a long time, I can see real growth in him. He is becoming the man I fell in love with again, and watching his transformation has been incredible.

Every day is still a struggle - recovery isn’t easy. But by the grace of God and the support of our recovery family, we are building a new life together, and for that, I am truly thankful.
