Gary’s Place is a seven-bedroom historic white building on the corner of North Fourth and Academy Streets, across the parking lot from KCA (Kelso Christian Assembly), formerly used by the Catholic Church for nuns and priests. Today it houses 20 men coming off the streets, prison, and other walks of life, who are looking for reunification with families and society. Alex Drumal is the house manager.
Gary's Place derives its name from a remarkable individual, Gary Miller, who was the driving force behind Mountain Ministries. His dedication to this cause was unparalleled, and he invested immense time, effort, and resources to transform the house now used by Faithful Servants into the beautiful and welcoming space it is today.
Gary Miller was more than just a name; he was a beacon of hope and a pillar of strength for many. His involvement with Mountain Ministries showcased his unwavering commitment to making a difference in the community. Through his hard work and selflessness, he left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed his path.
Gary's contributions to the house were profound. He ensured that every corner of the house reflected warmth and care. From financial investments to hands-on efforts, Gary meticulously worked to enhance the house's ambiance, making it a true sanctuary for those in need.
Naming the house "Gary's Place" is more than just a gesture; it is a tribute to a legend. It ensures that Gary Miller's legacy continues to inspire and remind everyone of the power of dedication and community spirit. By naming it after him, we aim to keep his memory alive and honor his lasting impact.
Gary Miller's name will always be remembered, not just as the name of a house, but as a representation of kindness, perseverance, and unwavering support for the community.
