Faithful Servants Ministry
Trevor Kelley’s life is a remarkable story of resilience, redemption, and transformation. Born in Olympia, WA, in 1991, Trevor’s early years were marked by challenges that would test anyone’s resolve. He grew up in a tumultuous environment, moving frequently between homes in Lewis County and Spokane, with both households struggling with addiction, domestic violence, and instability. By age 9, he was already exposed to cycles of substance abuse and conflict, which would shape his early perspective on life. Despite the chaos, Trevor found moments of joy and connection, particularly during summer and winter breaks spent with his father and younger sister.
As a child, Trevor demonstrated a natural drive to rise above his circumstances. He threw himself into sports like soccer, baseball, football, and wrestling and pursued hobbies like riding motorcycles and playing drums and guitar. These activities gave him brief reprieves from the challenges at home. However, the instability and trauma he endured weighed heavily on him, leading to struggles with his own mental health, including a suicide attempt at age 12.
Trevor’s resilience continued into his teenage years, where he found structure through programs like JROTC, the police explorers, and martial arts. However, the absence of consistent stability and guidance led him to start drinking and experimenting with drugs at a young age. Despite these struggles, Trevor graduated high school in Castle Rock and enlisted in the Marine Corps through the delayed entry program.
During his time in the Marine Corps, Trevor excelled as a heavy equipment operator, physical trainer, and martial artist, deploying to various countries in Asia. He trained in disciplines such as MCMAP, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai, and Kali, becoming a highly skilled and physically fit Marine. However, the same addiction and self-destructive tendencies that had plagued his youth resurfaced. Despite excelling in his technical occupation, combat fitness, and shooting proficiency, Trevor’s conduct and struggles with alcohol and substance abuse led to disciplinary actions, ultimately ending his military career.
After leaving the Marines, Trevor sought a fresh start by pursuing welding and an apprenticeship with the Operating Engineers Union. However, unresolved trauma and addiction led to a series of setbacks, including homelessness, legal troubles, and a battle with mental health. The lowest point came with a high-speed police chase, resulting in jail time and felony charges. It was during his time in jail that Trevor began to reflect deeply on his life, immersing himself in the Bible and other spiritual materials. It was here that he decided he was done with the life he had been living.
Following his release, Trevor entered inpatient rehabilitation, determined to make a change. He embraced recovery wholeheartedly, participating in daily devotions, church services, Celebrate Recovery, and other programs that laid the foundation for his transformation. After graduating from rehab, he connected with Faithful Servants, where he found support, mentorship, and a community dedicated to recovery.
Trevor’s commitment to his recovery has been unwavering. He attends multiple recovery meetings daily, works the steps in both Narcotics Anonymous and Celebrate Recovery, and continues to engage in therapy, focusing on adverse childhood experiences and EMDR to process his past trauma. He has taken on service roles, chairs meetings, and serves as a board member for Faithful Servants, giving back to the community that helped him find stability and purpose.
Today, Trevor is a devoted father with custody of his youngest daughter, stable housing, and a renewed sense of purpose. He is nearly off probation in both Washington and Oregon, has addressed his legal obligations, and is preparing to return to work with his union. He is also exploring the possibility of completing his college education. Trevor’s journey has been one of immense challenges, but his resilience and dedication have not only transformed his own life but have also inspired countless others to pursue their own paths of healing and growth.
Trevor Kelley is a testament to the power of accountability, faith, and hard work. His story is a reminder that no matter how difficult the past, a brighter future is always within reach with the right support, determination, and commitment to change.
